So You Think You Can Dance

Sunday, March 14th, Auditions for So You Think You Can Dance will be held at the Acuff Theatre at Opryland. Here’s your chance! So far, Nashville is one of only six cities slated for auditions so let’s spread the word and have a strong showing of our local talent:

Children's Ballet In Columbia!

This Thursday there will be a short performance (40 mins) of the Nashville Opera Company's production of the "Three Little Pigs".

The following Thursday Feb 18 the Nashville Ballet will perform a short (40 mins) version of "The Singing Tortoise".

Both performances will be at 6:30 pm in the Cherry Theater in the Wayne Hickman building on the Columbia State Campus in Columbia. Both are FREE.

Children's Ballet

The Singing Tortoise, February 27
Two FREE performances Saturday, February 27 at 10:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. at the Downtown Nashville Pubic Library.

Nashville Ballet is proud to bring back one of our most popular children's ballets. In this West African folk tale, a hunter named Ama meets a magical singing tortoise. Once Ama befriends the tortoise, she tries to teach him that man is simply a visitor on earth who needs to respect all things. But Ama tries to exploit the tortoise's special gifts in order to gain favor with the people of his village. However, the tortoise has a plan of her own to teach Ama to learn his lesson the hard way. This cautionary tale features elaborate masks that represent animals and chieftains, choreography by Paul Vasterling, and is set to an infectious percussion score composed by Todd London.

Welcome February!

February Updates:

Spring Concert Updates:

* Costumes are ordered and will be arriving later this Spring.

* More important dates about photo day, dvds, and other Spring Concert related events will be posted with March's newsletter.

* If your student is interested in Spring Concert and you have not signed up or paid for a costume please inquire at to see if costumes are available for purchase.

Safety Updates:

* Parents please continue to encourage children to "cover up" and dress warm in these cold months. After students participate in class their muscles are warm and stretched. Students should always keep those muscles as warm as possible as they enter a cold environment to keep their maximum flexibility and avoid injury.

* ALL STUDENTS must be walked in and out of the building by a parent unless the student drives him/herself to dance. We are retracting our original age of 10 for students able to leave the building without a parent signing them in and out. Due to recent events we ask all parents to respect our request and come to the door to drop students and pick them up.

* Students who are not picked up at the end of class will be asked to sit and observe the beginning of the next class. They will not be dismissed to sit in the lobby or wait by the front door for parent. Parents must come in to retrieve their child.

* No students will be allowed to wait by the door or sit on the front bench for parent.
